Bruce Arians clearly has no problem delegating authority.
The Cardinals coach has been the team’s primary offensive play caller since he was hired in 2013. He turned play-calling duties over to offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin in last Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game. When the Cardinals take on the Raiders Saturday, they will have a new play caller.
Former NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich, who was hired in January as the Cardinals quarterbacks coach, will call the offensive plays against the Raiders.
“Unfortunately, Malik McDowell was involved in a vehicular accident, in which he suffered an injury during the NFL break period,” the team said. “As a precautionary measure, Malik has remained back in Michigan under the care of physicians there. Our medical people have been in constant communication with his physicians, and they have been monitoring the situation.
“At this point, it is important for Malik to stay at home and rest. We consider this a long-term relationship and will do whatever is in the best interest of Malik. We look forward to Malik’s return to Seattle and will update you with any changes. We placed him on reserve/did not report today.”
Coach Pete Carroll also remained vague when reporters about McDowell’s injuries after the first day of camp.
“We’ll see. I don’t know that,” Carroll said when asked if McDowell was out for the season. “It’s challenging. He had extraordinarily high hopes to be here and be with us, and he’s not able to. So everything’s above board and cleared — what we’re doing. But it’s going to take a little while just because this is Cheap Jerseys Hockey the first time there’s been a statement to come out, and we’re just honoring the family in Cheap Jerseys In The US how to handle this properly.”
