Finally, the biggest tangible improvement: Two of their top three picks, in the top 42 overall, were spent on defensive backs — and good ones. First-round pick Marshon Lattimore is a Day 1 starter at corner. Safety Marcus Williams is expected to be the guy they thought Jairus Byrd would be.
They’re expecting the same from last year’s highly-touted rookie safety, Vonn Bell, in his second year. Kenny Vacarro is still anchored back Cheap Heat Jerseys there, too. The lowliest unit of a bad defense the last few years now has a chance to be their strength.
Here are seven of the most egregious excessive celebration flags thrown last season — seven, see what we did there? — and a brief explanation of whether they’re legal this season or not.
— Antonio Brown, Steelers, twerk (Week 1): illegal. Falls under the prohibition on offensive gestures. Not the biggest surprise ever. People infamously found Cam Newton’s dab offensive a couple of seasons ago, so this wasn’t going to fall through the cracks.
Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys, Salvation Army bucket leap (Week 15): legal. At least it seems so, presuming the giant bucket behind the end zone that night was considered a prop. It’s worth noting that the NFL chose not to fine him, and Elliott made a nice donation to the charity afterward.
— Tajae Sharpe, Titans, taking a nap (Week 10): legal. Sharpe went to the ground, in hilarious fashion. Interestingly, he left the ball behind and declined to use it as a pillow, as Terrell Owens once did.
